Privacy Policy

Effective date: 1 August 2024
Last updated: 28 July 2026

1. Introduction

Omega Pets Sdn. Bhd. (“Omega Pets”, “we”, “us” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain and safeguard personal data when you visit omegapets.com.my, use our online store, contact us, create an account, subscribe to communications or purchase our products.

Our store is hosted on Shopify. Shopify processes certain personal data to provide the ecommerce platform and related services used by our store.

2. Scope and data controller

This policy applies to personal data processed by Omega Pets in connection with our website and commercial activities. For these activities, Omega Pets is the organisation responsible for deciding how and why your personal data is processed, except where another party—such as Shopify or a payment provider—acts independently under its own privacy terms.

3. Personal data we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

  • Identity and contact information: name, billing and delivery address, email address, telephone number and account details.
  • Order and transaction information: products viewed or purchased, order number, delivery status, returns, refunds, discounts and communications relating to a transaction.
  • Payment information: payment method, payment status and limited transaction details. Full card or banking credentials are generally processed by Shopify and/or the selected payment provider rather than stored directly by Omega Pets.
  • Customer-service information: enquiries, correspondence, reviews, photographs, feedback and information supplied when reporting a product or delivery issue.
  • Marketing information: newsletter subscriptions, promotional preferences, campaign interactions and records of consent or opt-out choices.
  • Device and usage information: IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring pages, pages viewed, access dates and times, interactions with the website and approximate location derived from network information.
  • Cookie and similar-technology information: identifiers and activity information collected through cookies, pixels, local storage and comparable technologies.

Please provide accurate information and avoid giving us personal data that is not reasonably required for the relevant purpose.

4. How we collect personal data

We collect personal data:

  • directly from you when you place an order, create an account, subscribe, submit a form, review a product or contact us;
  • automatically when you use the website, through cookies, server logs and similar technologies;
  • from service providers involved in payments, delivery, fraud prevention, analytics, marketing or customer support; and
  • from marketplaces, retailers or other partners where you ask them to share information with us or where sharing is otherwise permitted by law.

5. How we use personal data

We may use personal data to:

  • create and manage customer accounts;
  • process orders, payments, deliveries, returns, refunds and exchanges;
  • provide customer support and respond to questions or complaints;
  • send order confirmations, service messages and other transactional communications;
  • send marketing communications where you have opted in or where otherwise permitted by law;
  • operate, personalise, troubleshoot and improve our website, products and customer experience;
  • measure website performance and understand how customers use our services;
  • detect and prevent fraud, abuse, security incidents and other unlawful activity;
  • enforce our terms, protect our rights and resolve disputes;
  • comply with accounting, tax, consumer-protection, regulatory and legal requirements; and
  • support a merger, acquisition, restructuring or transfer of all or part of our business.

Where required, we process personal data with your consent. We may also process data to perform a contract with you, comply with legal obligations, or pursue legitimate business purposes permitted by applicable law. You may withdraw consent for future processing where processing depends on consent.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

We and our service providers, including Shopify, may use cookies and similar technologies to keep the website functioning, remember preferences, maintain carts and sessions, measure performance, prevent fraud and—where enabled and permitted—support analytics, personalisation and advertising.

Some cookies are necessary for the store to operate. Other cookies may be optional. Where a consent banner or cookie-preference control is available, you can use it to manage non-essential technologies. Browser settings may also allow you to block or delete cookies, although doing so may affect store functionality.

7. Marketing communications

If you subscribe to marketing, we may send product news, educational content and promotions. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in an email or by contacting us. Opting out of marketing does not stop communications that are necessary to manage an account, order, return or customer-service request.

8. How we disclose personal data

We may disclose personal data only where reasonably necessary to:

  • Shopify and ecommerce providers that host and operate our online store;
  • payment processors and financial institutions that authorise and process payments or refunds;
  • couriers, fulfilment providers and delivery partners that deliver and track orders;
  • technology, analytics, security, customer-support, email and marketing providers that help operate and improve our business;
  • professional advisers, including accountants, auditors, insurers and lawyers;
  • government authorities, regulators, courts or law-enforcement bodies where disclosure is required or permitted by law; and
  • prospective or actual buyers, investors or successors in connection with a business transfer, restructuring, merger or acquisition.

Service providers may process personal data only for relevant services and subject to their contracts and applicable law. Some providers may also act as independent controllers for particular activities.

9. Shopify

Our online store is powered by Shopify, which collects and processes customer personal data to provide ecommerce, checkout, security, analytics and related services. Shopify may process information in countries outside Malaysia. Learn more about Shopify’s processing and privacy controls in the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy and Shopify Privacy Controls.

10. International transfers

Shopify and other service providers may process or store personal data outside Malaysia. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we take reasonable steps to use providers and safeguards intended to protect it in accordance with applicable requirements. Privacy laws in another country may differ from Malaysian law.

11. Data retention

We retain personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including completing transactions, supporting customers, maintaining business and tax records, preventing fraud, resolving disputes and complying with legal obligations. Retention periods vary according to the nature of the information and applicable requirements. Data may be deleted, anonymised or securely archived when it is no longer required.

12. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect personal data against accidental loss, unauthorised access, misuse, alteration or disclosure. However, no online transmission or storage system is completely secure. You are responsible for protecting your account credentials and notifying us if you suspect unauthorised account activity.

13. Your privacy rights

Subject to applicable law and any permitted exceptions, you may have the right to:

  • request access to personal data we hold about you;
  • request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data;
  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
  • object to or stop direct-marketing communications;
  • request deletion, restriction or portability where such rights apply; and
  • make a complaint about how personal data has been handled.

To submit a request, email omegapetsmy@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. Certain information may need to be retained where required by law or for legitimate record-keeping, fraud-prevention or dispute-resolution purposes.

14. Children’s privacy

Our online store is intended for adults purchasing pet-care products. We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data without appropriate permission, please contact us so we can review and take appropriate action.

15. Third-party websites and services

Our website may link to third-party websites, marketplaces or services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own notices, and Omega Pets is not responsible for how those third parties process personal data.

16. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices, technology, services or legal requirements. The latest version will be published on this page with an updated revision date. Where appropriate, we may provide additional notice of material changes.
